Teen Advisory Board

Are you a high school student interested in leadership opportunities to help with job and college applications? Do you know a teen who loves the library?

Apply for the Teen Advisory Board!

The Jefferson Public Library Teen Advisory Board is a leadership development program for middle and high school-aged youth. Members work with Jefferson Librarians to plan and host one annual program targeted at teens, read and review upcoming YA books, and take on other projects aimed at improving Teen services. Members might decorate for seasons and holidays, assist with selected events for children and teens, and give feedback on Teen materials and activities.

Membership is open by application to a limited number of middle school and high school students. Applications will be considered from students entering 7th to 11th grades. After a review of written applications, finalists are invited to in-person interviews to complete the selection process.

As a member of the Teen Advisory Board, you would be expected to:

  • Serve for a minimum of 1 year and a maximum of 7 years.
  • Attend monthly meetings of the Teen Advisory Board. Meetings are typically scheduled from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month.
  • Notify the librarians in advance if you will be absent for a meeting.
  • Actively and respectfully participate in TAB meetings and activities.
  • Attend additional TAB works sessions as needed.
  • Act as a community ambassador for the Library.
  • Provide a current email address so that the Library can communicate about upcoming meetings and work sessions, and regularly check that email to stay informed.
  • Regularly read YA and Teen books and offer reviews and recommendations.

Applications can be picked up in person at the library or downloaded right from this page below.

Completed applications for Fall 2019 can be returned in person at the library, by email to jeffpl@CCRLS.org, or by mail to PO box 1068, Jefferson, OR, 97352.
